Energy Costs

For more than 20 years, Connecticut layered energy policy upon energy policy, driving up costs for families and businesses without accountability.

As Ranking Member of the Energy and Technology Committee, I am working to correct those mistakes.

Energy policy must prioritize transparency in electric rates, reliability in supply, and affordability for families and seniors. As our reliance on electricity continues to increase, we must responsibly plan for future demand so working families and small businesses are not burdened by poor decisions.

Affordability is not optional. It is essential to keeping families here and businesses growing.

Healthcare Costs

As a pharmacist, I have seen firsthand how rising prescription drug prices and health care strain seniors and working families as well as our hospitals and pharmacies that are trying to provide health care access .

I co chaired a bipartisan Prescription Drug Task Force that passed legislation increasing transparency in drug pricing. That bill passed just minutes before the close of session because members on both sides worked together to get it done. This effort earned the 2025 AARP Health Care Advocate Award.

Healthcare affordability remains a priority. I will continue working at both the state and federal levels to reduce prescription drug costs and improve overall healthcare affordability for Connecticut families.

Public Safety and Law Enforcement

Strong communities require safe neighborhoods.

Our police officers must have the tools, training, and legal framework necessary to protect families. Public safety policy should be balanced, practical, and focused on results.

Keeping our communities safe is fundamental.

Traffic and E-bike Safety

Traffic safety is a growing concern across our district. Whether it is speeding, dangerous intersections, the vast amount of vehicles on our roads or the rapid increase in e bike usage, we must ensure our laws keep pace with changing conditions.

Safety standards, enforcement clarity, and responsible regulations are necessary to protect pedestrians, drivers, and children alike.  I was happy to support our new e-bike laws to provide clarity to our families of the safety issues surrounding these sometimes dangerous vehicles.

Families should feel safe walking, biking, and driving in their own neighborhoods.

Strong Local Schools

Education decisions belong in our communities.

Parents, teachers, and local boards understand the needs of our children better than state bureaucracies. I support protecting local control in education policy and ensuring our schools remain focused on academic excellence and safety for every child.

Just as importantly, our state laws must support our schools in doing their job. When we face issues such as unsafe hiring processes or a lack of transparency that prevents districts from accessing the information they need to hire the best and safest educators, it becomes clear that our laws must be strengthened. Our schools should have the tools and legal framework necessary to protect students and make informed hiring decisions.

I will continue to champion legislation that prioritizes student safety and supports school districts with clear, responsible standards.

The state must also do more to financially support our local schools. Increasing our ECS funding formula and sending more state dollars into our municipalities which helps reduce the heavy reliance on local property taxes. Families should not face rising property taxes simply to maintain strong schools. Responsible state funding and local control must work together to support both educational excellence and affordability.

Jobs and Economic Opportunity

Affordable energy, responsible regulation, and predictable governance create the conditions businesses need to grow.

Connecticut must be a state where entrepreneurs can start businesses, employers can expand, and families can build their future. That means reducing unnecessary costs, improving infrastructure reliability, and creating a climate that supports innovation and job growth.

Strong schools and strong businesses go hand in hand.

Accountable Government

Residents are frustrated by backroom deals, special interest earmarks, fraud, and corruption that erode trust in state government.

Government must operate under clear, transparent procedures.

Spending should be accountable and controlled through the legislative process. The constitutional separation of powers exists for a reason. The legislature represents the people and controls the power of the purse. Major decisions must go through proper public hearings, legislative debate, and full oversight.  Allowing our Governor to take full power of a half a billion dollars of taxpayer funds that should be paying down our massive debts is reckless.

Taxpayer dollars must be protected from waste, fraud, and political favoritism.  The earmarks for special political gifts have to stop!

Executive overreach and concentrated power undermine trust. Good governance requires balance, transparency, and respect for proper process.

I will continue working to restore balance and ensure our district’s voice is heard clearly and consistently in Hartford.
