As Ranking Member of the Energy & Technology Committee, I was directly involved in shaping the language of our energy affordability legislation.

​

This bill takes meaningful steps toward lowering electric bills by:

​

• Removing certain charges from the Public Benefits Charge

• Allowing COVID-era arrearages to be bonded, reducing immediate ratepayer impact

• Removing electric vehicle charging incentives from electric bills

• Authorizing prudent storm cost recovery through special bonding to reduce borrowing costs

 

While more work remains, this legislation represents a real step toward improving energy affordability and increasing transparency in how charges appear on your bill.
